This Privacy Policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit mararhys.com, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and what choices you have. I keep data collection to a minimum: this website exists to share resources for first-time wedding officiants and to tell you about my book.

What information is collected
1. When you sign up for a free download
If you request the free checklist or the Companion Planner, you give me your email address and, for the planner, your first name. I use them only to send you what you asked for and, occasionally, related emails about officiating a wedding and my books. These emails are sent through MailerLite, an email service provider that stores your name, email address and basic information about whether emails are opened or links are clicked. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
2. Anonymous visitor statistics
This website uses the WordPress plugin WP Statistics to count visits. IP addresses are anonymized and hashed, so they cannot be used to identify you, and no personal profile is created. The statistics show things like which pages are read, the country of the visit, the type of device and browser, and the website you came from. The data is stored on this website's own server and is not shared with anyone.
3. Technical data
Like any website, the server that hosts mararhys.com automatically records technical information (such as IP address, date and time, and the page requested) in log files. This is needed to run the website securely. The website is hosted by Metanet AG in Switzerland.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts (Google LLC, USA): the fonts on this website are loaded from Google's servers, which means your IP address is sent to Google when a page loads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- MailerLite: email delivery for the free downloads (see above). See MailerLite's Privacy Policy.
- Amazon: the "Get the paperback" and "Read on Kindle" buttons link to Amazon.com. These links include a tracking code from Amazon Attribution, which tells me how many people clicked a button and whether the book was bought on Amazon afterwards. I only see totals, never who you are. Once you are on Amazon, Amazon's own Privacy Notice applies.
- Pinterest and Instagram: these are plain links. Nothing is loaded from these platforms until you click.
Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland, including in the European Union and the United States.
What I don't do
I don't sell or rent your personal information, I don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this website, and I don't share your data with anyone except the service providers listed above, which process it only to provide their service.
How long data is kept
Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Visitor statistics are kept in anonymous form only.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time what personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. Just email hello@mararhys.com. I will reply as soon as possible and in any case within 30 days.
Do Not Track signals
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. This website does not currently change its behavior in response to these signals, but as described above it does not track you across other websites.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
